Throughout 2021 I went on a journey through the four seasons, throughout the four provinces of Ireland with four incredible musical collaborations – Susan O’Neill, Brídín, Steve Cooney with Tommy Sands and Liam Ó Maonlaí.

Inspired by the rich landscapes and soundscapes in the four corners of our island, I spent up to one week with each musician exploring and seeking sights and sounds in the nooks and crannies of these remote and isolated places…

Following my roots and their sprawl, we navigated uncharted territories where Irish and English languages, Traditional, Folk and Contemporary musics meet, creating four boundary breaking macaronic songs.

Join me on this musical odyssey for the young and the old, brave and the bold! Following the year long project we created a beautiful EP that features handcrafted prints and a song lyric booklet . Our short documentary “Tírdhreacha & Fuaimdhreacha” premiered on March 13th 2022 in the Irish Arts Center, NYC.

Watch this space for future screenings!

COMMUNITY

'Misneach' - Kabin Studio, Cork City

2022

A huge part of my day to day musical life is community music. I loved working with Kabin Studio (Cork City) on their ‘Misneach’ project recently. ‘Misneach’ is all about female empowerment with the goal of encouraging young women to be themselves, as well as educating and raising awareness about the many challenges they face.

Lajee Center, Aida Refuge Camp, Palestine

2022

I was fortunate enough to visit the Lajee Center in the Aida Refugee Camp in Palestine recently. My trip came about because of a very good friend of mine, Ainle Ó Cairealláin, who has opened a community gym called ‘Aclaí’ in the center. Both him and the Lajee Center are doing trojan work, and I loved sharing  the space and music with some of the students in Lajee. The beauty and power of music for me, is the lack of borders – race, language, nor creed doesn’t matter, and that is such a special thing. I would encourage anyone reading this to check out the Lajee Center here, and Ainle’s work here. They need all the help that they can get. Thank you for welcoming me, and I look forward to returning to Palestine.
